Hypertext Narrative - Psychology (approximately 3000 words)

It all started like this.

Since you're a little girl, you dreamed to be a psychologist and you are always work hard at school to work in this field. Now, you just finish your last year of Ph.D in psychology and you need to choose if you apply in a clinic of psychologists and work for someone else or if you open your own clinic and work alone for the moment.

Choice 1: You decide to apply in a clinic of psychologists. Choice 2: You decide to open your own clinic.






























Scene 1.

You begin your work in the new clinic, the boss is cool, but the majority of other psychologists talks in your back, they find you too young for the job and don't share the same ideas as you in psychology. Your arrive isn't appreciate and this affect your work because you never stop thinking about what they say. You don't like this and don't know what doing in this situation. Choice 1: You decide to talk about the situation to your boss. Choice 2: You decide to talk to the other psychologists, hoping this will change the working atmosphere. Choice 3: You decide to do nothing, this probably past quickly.






























Scene 2.

Your boss tells you that he can not do much in this situation, his employers do their job properly and they are here from a long time. He also tells you that this is not the first time a situation like this happen. He offers you to work in research if you prefer not to stay with them. What are you going to do? Choice 1: You accept to go work in research for the clinic. Choice 2: You prefer to stay there, help the patient concretely is what you like to do.






























Scene 3.

You like a lot your job in psychology research, your new colleagues are really pleasant to work with and you make a good salary. A day, your boss comes to see you and purpose to you a promotion in another part of his company where the employees have a better salary but where the workload is bigger. You are not sure if you want to accept this promotion, not because the workload scares you, but because you really like your present working atmosphere. Choice 1: You choose to accept the promotion, but quite your colleagues sadly. Choice 2: You decide to stay at your present post, you like too much this job and your colleagues to quite them. In more the wage that you earn isn't so small.






























Scene 4.

Accept the promotion was professionally a good move, you're now the boss of your work research and make a premium wage. Your new colleagues are great but not as well as the previous ones were. However, you see them frequently and they are now your friends. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 5.

Stay at this post was for you a great choice, you're so well with your co-workers and you have a date with one of them next week. You're so excited! Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 6.

Stay there, with the other psychologists, was maybe a bad idea, they continue to be unpleasant with you and this, until a new employee is hired. Strangely, they become nice with you and begin to fool the new employee. You are not anymore the new one, so they decide to include you...? You find this stupid, but you always want to be appreciated. You don't know what to do. Choice 1: Be plaisant with the new employee and leave the olders psychologists fooling you. Choice 2: Integrate the old group, be accept by them and fool the new employee too. .






























Scene 7.

The new employee is a very nice guy and be pleasant with him was for you and your conscience the right choice. In more, while speaking with him, he says to you that he is your boss's nephew. In this situation the older psychologists take their spot and stop fooling. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 8.

You really feel bad to fooling with the other psychologists your new one co-workers. One week after the arrive of him, your boss come to officially present the new employee. He is really strange and at the and of this meeting, he says to all of us that the new guy is his nephew and in more if we don't stop to fool him, he promises to fire us. Scene 9.

Talk to the other psychologists change nothing, they continue to fool you and always say that your work is a crap. You don't know what to do, you love your patients and the work but work with this co-workers is horrible for you. Choice 1: You decide to resign. Choice 2: You decide to keep your great work.






























Scene 10.

Give your resign was a tough move to you. Your boss doesn't understand why you do that and keep it like a lost of time for him and his clinic. Moreover, he destroys your reputation in the psychological field and no one company and clinic want to hire you now. You have two choices: go back to school or go to work at the minimum wage with in a job where no special skills are needed. Choice 1: You decide to go work at a minimum wage job. Choice 2: You decide to return to university.






























Scene 11.

You find a work at the Walmart of your city, it's a boring job where your not happy. The clients are always frustrated of everything who are for you banalities compare to the problems and disorders you treat before. You think that you will finish your life here and this makes you feel a little depressed. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 12.

Your new enter at the university is great, but you don't really know what you do there. You like the psychology more than every other field of work. You choose to do a bachelor in law, but for the moment your not very motivated to work for it. Also, by time, you find stupid to go in this field, because is one where the cheating and fooling are ubiquitous. Scene 13.

You continue your great work with your patients and it pays a lot because a few weeks after that, your boss asks you if you're interested in a new post, a post where you be the chief of the psychologists. What is your answer? Choice 1: You accept his proposition. Choice 2: You refuse his proposition.






























Scene 14.

This move was a really good one for your career, now you're valuable at the eyes of everybody in the clinic and it puts an end to the misconduct of the co-workers towards you. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 15.

This move was maybe not the best for your career but it permit to you to keep a great work based on a good time management between consultations and time for you. Also, with time, your co-workers stop fooling you. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 16.

Choose to do nothing was a bad idea, you feel really bad and your patients mention it to your boss. He comes to see you at your desk and asks you what go bad. Choice 1: You tell him that the working atmosphere is really bad and that everyone is against you. Choice 2: You prefer to keep your problems for you and say to him that everything is okay.






























Scene 17.

Your boss appalled by your situation purposes you to give you two weeks of break and that during this time he will speak to the other psychologists to put an end to this situation. Choice 1: You accept his proposition and go on vacation. Choice 2: You refuse his proposition, your patients need you.






























Scene 18.

Your vacation was great as they can be, this was a really relaxing moment and at you return everything is okay. Your co-workers are professionally corrects and even if you are not going to become the best friends in the world, the working atmosphere is good. Scene 19.

Your decision was the bad one, you quickly realize that you can't be constantly the laughing one of the others. You need to take a break, you do a burnout. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 20.

In the weeks that follow, you don't go better and your boss needs to decide to fire you if you don't go in psychotherapy. Choice 1: You accept to go in psychotherapy. Choice 2: You refuse to go in psychotherapy.






























Scene 21.

You quickly go better with the therapy, and you come back to work after three months of therapy. You never feel so confident that currently. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 22.

You are immersed in depression and your confidence in you has never been so low. You don't know what to do to go better, and this, same if you normally have all the solutions because you study psychology all these last years. Scene 23.

The begin of your clinic isn’t very successful, you don’t have a lot of patient and a lot of them just come one time to talk to someone, but don’t really have mental disorders to treat. You only have one patient guy who come for real psychological problems. Now that you see him for the third time and have diagnosed that he have an attachment disorder, what approach will you use to treat him? Choice 1: You decide to treat him with the humanistic approach. Choice 2: You decide to treat him with the psychodynamic approach. Choice 3: You decide to treat him with the cognitive approach.






























Scene 24.

You choose to treat your patient with the humanistic approach. This approach put the emphasis on the internal tension of the patient who accentuate the disorder. Quickly during the treatment of several weeks, your patient says to you that this approach don't work on him, he is always so stressed when he is alone and the relations with his entourage do not improve. He asks you if you can change of approach to treat him. Choice 1: You decide to continue with this approach and say to your patient that it's normal at this point that he doesn't see changes because it's just the begin of the treatment. Choice 2: You decide to change of approach.






























Scene 25.

Since you said to your patient that the humanistic approach is the good one for him and that you want to continue to treat him with this approach he always finds excuses to cancel your appointments. What are you decided to do in this situation? Choice 1: You decide to call him one last time to know what is the problem. Choice 2: You decide to leave him with his troubles and focus on your few other patients.






























Scene 26.

By answering the phone, your patient is surprised that it is you at the end of the line. He explains to you that he is not interested to continue his therapy with you because he can trust you and continue in this approach. He doesn't like it. You say to him that it's okay and that you understand, you're maybe not the good psychologist to him. You refer him to a classmate of university that is now psychologist too in a clinic. Scene 27.

A morning some weeks later, you saw in the newspaper that a guy committed suicide last night. It's your patient. You are in shock but at this moment someone knocks to your door. It's the police, you're under arrests for malpractice. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 28.

You decide to change the treatment of you patient and try the systemic approach, this approach work pretty well on him and he is now really happy of this. He feels great and wants to stop his treatment before the end, he asks you what you think is the best to him, continue his therapy until the end or stop it and come back if he feels that he need it. Choice 1: You advise him that it's better for him to finish the therapy. Choice 2: You say that it's okay if he not finishes the therapy because his progresses are great, but you say too to call you at the slightest slip.






























Scene 29.

He is frustrated of you advise and send you some bad messages like "You're the worst psychologist ever, you just want to make money on the back of your clients and invent them disorders." Two days later, you receive a notice of him. You're now discouraged of this job. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 30.

The guy stops his therapy, for a moment it is okay. One month later, he comes back and says that he feel bad again. Your work is all to remake and this disappoint you, but in the same time this permit you to have a steady salary. Scene 31.

You choose the dynamic approach to treat your patient, the dynamic approach is based on the unconscious and the past of the person. This makes him feels really bad during the seances, but the progresses are good. He says to you that he have a bad childhood and tells you his whole story. He purposes to you an appointment at the restaurant. What is your answer? Choice 1: You accept his invitation. Choice 2: You refuse his invitation, you can't date a patient.






























Scene 32.

You go to a fabulous restaurant, you discover another person in your patient during this appointment. You realize that this situation scares because you begin to love him. You don't know what to do. Choice 1: You decide to continue this relationship, too bad for his treatment. Choice 2: You prefer to put an end to this relationship, his mental-health is the priority.






























Scene 33.

You feel the perfect happiness with your ex patient who is now your boyfriend. You convinced him to see another psychologist and now with your help he goes better than ever. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 34.

He was really sad of your decision to put an end to your relationship. You continue his treatment a moment, but he decides to not come see you anymore. This patient always stay disappointment for you, you would like to have been able to help him further. Scene 35.

Your patient accepts your decision, but prefer to change of psychologist. He asks you for references from other psychologists. You hesitate between two. Choice 1: You refer to him Carl one of your classmates of university. Choice 2: You refer to him Samantha your best friend who is psychologist too.






























Scene 36.

Your ex patient gives you news of him sometimes, he goes well and his treatment with Carl works. You're really happy of it. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 37.

You know some weeks after that your patient quite your clinic for Samantha's one, that these two are now in couples. You now feel stupid about this situation. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 38.

You decide to treat him with the cognitive approach, this approach is based on the thoughts of the patients. During a seance, your client says to you that he is in love with you, you're troubled by this and you don't know how to react. Choice 1: You say to him that with these confessions you can't be his psychologist anymore. Choice 2: You say to him that you able to continue his treatment, but that this situation must not come to jeopardize his therapy.






























Scene 39.

When you say to him that you can't be his psychologist anymore, your patient becomes crazy. He threatens you of death and quite your clinic furious. Knowing his history of violence, this situation really scares you, you don't know what to do. Choice 1: Quite the city for a moment and called the police about the situation. Choice 2: Stay at your home, this is nothing, he will never go to the act.






























Scene 40.

Quite the city was the best idea you never have it because the police arrests your crazy patient just after that he puts your home in fire. This was not just threats and if you did not do what you did, you would not be here today. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 41.

You stay at your home tonight and decide to go to the office of police tomorrow. Just after you go to bed, you feel a presence in your room. Suddenly, a knife is on your neck. It's your crazy patient, you know it. He kills you, sets fire to your house and leaves looking satisfied. Scene 42.

Your patient become strangely more confident and don't stop to demonstrate his interest to you. You ask him to stop his advances, thing that he doesn't do. He mugs you and confused he leaves your clinic. Choice 1: In this situation, you decide to tell the story at the police. Choice 2: You prefer to keep this story for you.






























Scene 43.

After that, you tell your story to the police, this latter arrested your patient. He takes some months in jail for sexual harassment. Start again: Maybe a better or worst end is possible, look at it! ;)






























Scene 44.

  2. Wow Maude! I really enjoy doing tour Hypertext Narrative about psychology, my field or study. Your stories are really realistic and the choices are exhaustive and stressful! I like the intrigues and the drama of your stories. Hopefully for my, I end up with a crazy patient that tried to kill me but I went out of the city for my safety!
